MBC picks up BBC Kids content for streamer Shahid, Hey Duggee lands on MBC3

MBC Group in the Middle East has signed a deal to acquire content from BBC Studios’ BBC Kids brand for its streaming platform Shahid.

Launching next week, Shahid’s BBC Kids offering will comprise 200 hours of programming for both preschoolers and older children fully dubbed into Arabic.

Shows will include animated preschool series JoJo & Gran Gran, live-action and animation hybrid Andy’s Adventures, wildlife show Deadly 60 and competition format Junior Bake Off.

The launch marks the sixth market to introduce the BBC Kids brand, following launches in Australia, the US, Taiwan, South Africa and India.

Meanwhile, MBC has acquired seasons one to three of animated preschool hit Hey Duggee for its free-to-air channel MBC3 in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and North Africa. The show is a Studio AKA production with CBeebies and BBC Studios.
