Australia’s Fetch TV gets its MTV and CNN, extends deals with Paramount, WBD

Australian IPTV platform Fetch TV has extended content and channel partnership deals with Paramount Australia and Warner Bros Discovery.

Under the revised Paramount partnership, Fetch TV will be offering Paramount’s retro music channels MTV 90s and MTV 00s as two new genre-based music channels while MTV Classic rebranded as MTV 80s.

Fetch TV currently carries 10 Paramount channels in total which include MTV, MTV Hits, Club MTV and CMT plus children’s channels Nick, Nick Jr and Nick Music.

Meanwhile, Fetch TV and WBD have agreed a multi-year extension of their channel partnership.

Fetch delivers the largest selection of WBD channels in Australia, which include Discovery, Investigation Discovery, Animal Planet, TLC, Discovery Turbo, Travel Channel, Food Network and HGTV. CNN International is also returning to Fetch, upgrading to a portfolio of nine channels available on the service.

Fetch TV chief content and commercial officer Sam Hall said: “Fetch customers will continue to have access to fan favourite programs including Aussie Gold Hunters, Street Outlaws and Sister Wives. We are also very pleased to see CNN rejoin the platform after a two-year hiatus, just in time for what is expected to be a riveting US, election cycle.”

Fetch subscribers can view all WBD channels live on TV or on the Fetch Mobi App. Content from Discovery, Investigation Discovery, TLC, and Discovery Turbo is also available on demand.

Fetch TV will continue to operate standalone with Telstra as a majority shareholder. Fetch TV’s incumbent shareholders, Astro Holdings, will retain a 49 per cent share in the company. The telecommunications company acquiring will consolidate Fetch TV’s accounts post completion.
