UKTV takes on Bunya Productions’ Ladies in Black for U streaming service

Ladies in Black is based on the Madeleine St John novel

Australian drama series Ladies in Black has been acquired by UKTV for broadcast across the UK and Ireland on streaming service U.

The UK acquisition accelerates the global demand for the series which has already secured sales with Now TV in Hong Kong, YLE in Finland and Proximus Media House in Belgium via distributor ABC Commercial.

The television adaptation of the Madeleine St John novel, and feature film of the same name, is a 1960’s set drama following the lives of a group of eclectic employees from a high-end department store during changing social times.

The six-part series was commissioned by the ABC in 2023 and ABC Commercial was involved in the early stage development, as a production investor. Bunya Productions is the production company behind the show.
