Hannah Marshall and David de Lautour

Warner Bros Discovery-owned New Zealand broadcaster Three has commissioned crime drama series Ms X from Dynamic Television, South Pacific Pictures and Plus6Four Entertainment.

The 8×45′ series will also be available on streamer ThreeNow and is slated to be broadcast as part of Three’s 2026 slate. The series is scheduled to go into production in early June, on location in New Zealand.

Melissa George

Australian actress Melissa George (The Mosquito Coast, The Slap) will lead the cast. In addition to coproducing, US-based Dynamic Television will also handle global distribution.

New Zealand production company Plus6Four Entertainment secured an initial NZ$2.75m (US$1.64m) in funding from NZ On Air in April 2024.

The dark crime comedy centres on the wife of a cheating husband who schemes with an old school friend to scare her husband into becoming faithful, with deadly and unintended consequences.

The original series was created by New Zealand creative duo Hannah Marshall and David de Lautour, who also comprise two-thirds of the executive team of Plus6Four Entertainment, with Marshall serving as head of development and de Latour as director.

Both are well known as actors, writers and directors. Marshall stars in Australian series Packed to the Rafters and works as writer and co-director of Apple series Corazon and TVNZ crime drama Alibi. Both also co-wrote the US pilot remake of Alibi for Bruckheimer Studios, CBS Studios and CBS Network.

Ms X will be directed and executive produced by de Lautour alongside Plus6Four Entertainment’s executive producers Gareth Williams and Marshall, Kelly Martin from South Pacific Pictures and Daniel March from Dynamic Television.

Marshall said: “Ms X is a darkly comic look into the New Zealand criminal underworld that blends our unique brand of Kiwi humour with a twisting crime story, made specifically for a global audience.”
