See-Saw Films saddles up Slow Horses for a fifth run on Apple TV+

Gary Oldman as slovenly passed-over spy Jackson Lamb in Slow Horses

Apple TV+ has ordered a fifth season of its UK-set spy drama series Slow Horses, starring Gary Oldman.

The series, based on British author Mick Herron’s Slough House book series, returned for its third season on November 29, with the season finale premiering on December 27.

The show is produced by London-based See-Saw Films and was adapted for television by UK screenwriter, actor and comedian Will Smith.

It follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 known as Slough House. The cast also includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan and Jonathan Pryce.

In addition to Smith, executive producers on the series include Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Julian Stevens and Graham Yost.

Apple TV+ ordered the first season of Slow Horses in 2019, making the show its first UK scripted commission. The streamer has since put a substantial push behind the show, handing it a two-season order (S3-4) in 2022 and now ordering a fifth.
