RTÉ and TVNZ have greenlit The Gone for a second season

Irish-New Zealand coproduction The Gone has been greenlit by broadcasters RTÉ and TVNZ for a second season, with filming currently underway in Auckland, New Zealand.

The six-part season of the crime mystery series will also be shot in locations in Dublin and elsewhere in Ireland in the coming months.

The Gone is coproduced by Kōtare Productions, Keeper Pictures and Kingfisher Films, in association with Southern Light Films (New Zealand) for RTÉ and TVNZ, with international distribution handled by Red Arrow Studios.

The production secured NZ$4.5m (US$2.75m) in funding from NZ On Air after gaining strong audience traction on both broadcast and streaming for its debut season in 2023.

The cast returns with Richard Flood (Grey’s Anatomy) as Detective Theo Richter, alongside Acushla-Tara Kupe (Under the Vines), who portrays Kiwi cop Diana Huia.

The creators of the show, New Zealander Michael Bennett and Ireland’s Anna McPartlin, are on board the second season, joined by Peter Burger and Hannah Quinn, who are directing the second season episodes. The Gone’s executive produces also include Karl Zohrab, Yvonne Donohoe, and Katie Holly.
