PBS, SBS, RÚV pick up Super7even Productions’ dementia doc

Human Forever is directed by Jonathan de Jong

US public broadcaster PBS, Australia’s SBS and Iceland’s RÚV have become the latest broadcasters to pick up Super7even Productions’ dementia documentary Human Forever.

The film from the Dutch production company has previously been sold to Arte in France, ZDF in Germany, VRT in Belgium and Videoland in the Netherlands.

Human Forever follows activist Teun Toebes as he embarks on a three-year journey spanning four continents, alongside director Jonathan de Jong, aiming to improve the quality of life for dementia patients.

Erna Kettler, head of acquisitions at RÚV, said: “Human Forever reminds us that caring for people living with dementia is a shared responsibility. It handles this sensitive subject with remarkable care and dignity, while inspiring us to think differently and, more importantly, to act.”

The PBS, SBS and RÚV acquisitions come alongside the publication of Human Forever: Searching the World for a Better Life with Dementia, a book written by de Jong and Toebes. It is due to be released tomorrow.

Super7even founder de Jong announced a new venture, SuperIndie, in June this year.

SuperIndie, a joint venture with MN Media’s Jeffrey de Graaf, will serve as an integrated studio focused on human-interest, nature and social impact-driven documentaries. It will oversee the creation of its own and third-party projects, from the development stage through to marketing and worldwide sales.

SuperIndie’s initial line-up of projects includes the Human Forever sequel, There Is No Society, and A Girl Like Rose, about the life and career of Belgian supermodel Rose Bertram.
