JFK assassination anniversary brings rush of documentary sales for Passion

Documentary film JFK: The Home Movie That Changed the World

MIPCOM: Broadcasters in Australia and Europe have pre-bought a new documentary about the assassination of US president John F Kennedy that is being sold by Passion Distribution here in Cannes.

SBS in Australia and Viasat, for Scandinavia, CEE and the Baltics, have picked up JFK: The Home Movie That Changed the World (1×60’), which comes from a partnership between Passion, UK broadcaster ITV and producer Shearwater Media.

The doc was developed by Passion and executive producer Steve Anderson to provide a unique insight into the shocking events of November 22, 1963.

Notably, for the first time ever, the home movie footage recorded by Dallas dressmaker Abraham Zapruder is matched with his own words – what Zapruder saw and heard as JFK was assassinated.

It also explores the remarkable story of what happened next to 26 seconds of amateur film that changed the course of history.

The documentary marks the 60th anniversary of JFK’s death and is due to air on ITVX and ITV in November.
