Kaspar Munk is a director with credits including The Rain and Kamikaze – Netflix and HBO Max’s first Danish original series respectively – plus Follow the Money and Ride Upon the Storm for local broadcaster DR.

His latest project, family drama Secrets, in which two siblings struggle to free themselves from old patterns of co-dependency and abuse, was written together with his real-life partner Lone Hørsle and produced by Monday Scripted.

Originally commissioned by Scandinavian streamer Viaplay, the series is being sold internationally via the company’s distribution arm, with SBS in Australia, Vodafone TV in Greece and Pickbox in Croatia among the buyers.

Munk spoke with Michael Pickard about the show and how he aimed to develop a project which returns to the roots of classic Nordic storytelling after the territory became so famed for noir.
