SkyShowtime acquires Fleeting Lies, Invisible Ladies for Spain and Portugal

Las Invisibles stars Elena Irureta, Lolita Flores and Maria Pujalte

European streamer SkyShowtime has acquired two series, Mentiras Pasajeras (Fleeting Lies) and Las Invisibles (The Invisible Ladies), for its service in Spain and Portugal.

The VoD joint venture between US media giants Paramount Global and Comcast Communications, parent company of both NBCUniversal and Sky, said the acquisitions accelerate its local content offering in the two countries.

Las Invisibles (8×45’) is produced by Paramount and Madrid-based Morena Films and will premiere at the Malaga Film Festival this week. Starring Lolita Flores and Maria Pujalte, it tells the story of a group of maids working at a luxury hotel while attempting to restructure their lives.

The show was created by Héctor Lozano (Merlí: Sapere Aude) and directed by Menna Fité (Merlí: Sapere Aude) and Marta Díaz (Mi Querida Cofradía).

Mentiras Pasajeras (8×30’), meanwhile, is made by Paramount and El Desea, the production company owned by brothers Agustín and Pedro Almodóvar and will be showcased at next week’s Series Mania in Lille, France.

The comedy series is about a company director accused of industrial espionage and is the first TV series in which Almodóvar (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Tie Me Up Tie Me Down) acts as a producer.

Both shows will stream on SkyShowtime in Spain and Portugal later in the year, and were originally produced for Paramount+ in Latin America, via its international studio VIS.

SkyShowtime is available in Albania, Andorra, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
