Welsh pubcaster S4C is restructuring its commissioning team with a series of promotions and appointments, including the creation of three new roles.

The first new position, a young audiences commissioner for 16-24s, will be filled by S4C’s former assistant commissioner for online content, Guto Rhun, who will be tasked with creating a portfolio of content specifically for the demographic.

The pubcaster is currently recruiting to fill the new role of head of unscripted, which will focus on developing the channel’s coproductions, premium series and international slate of content.

The third new role, digital content transformation lead, comes as S4C transitions to a digital-first strategy and is being taken by S4C’s former commissioner for online content, Rhodri ap Dyfrig, who will lead on innovation, digital content and special projects.

Elsewhere, S4C drama commissioner Gwenllian Gravelle has been promoted to head of scripted, while the supporting role of scripted commissioning executive has yet to be filled.

Factual commissioner Llinos Wynne has been promoted to head of docs and specialist factual, while sports commissioner Sue Butler is now head of sports. Entertainment, music, comedy and fact ent commissioner Elen Rhys has been upped to head of entertainment and fact ent.

The team is completed by education and children’s commissioner Sioned Geraint, who joined S4C last year. The team reports to recently appointed chief content officer Llinos Griffin-Williams.

Griffin-Williams said: “My goal for these roles and for S4C’s wider commissioning strategy is to make us a digital-first broadcaster and a truly cross-platform channel with an international focus and an appetite for exciting coproductions and innovative partnerships.”
