Netflix, BritBox, TVNZ pay their respects to Hulu and RTÉ’s dark comedy Obituary

Magamedia and APC Studios dark comedy Obituary

Netflix in the UK, BritBox in Australia and TVNZ in New Zealand are among the buyers to have picked up US streamer Hulu and Irish public broadcaster RTÉ’s dark comedy coproduction Obituary from producer and distributor APC.

Proximus in Belgium, RTS in French-speaking Switzerland, RTP in Portugal, BluTV in Turkey and Cyprus and TET in Latvia have also acquired the 6×60′ series.

Coproduced by Irish indie Magamedia and APC Studios in the UK, the show follows a freelance obituary writer who stages increasingly complex murders to keep her income up, while also avoiding the attention of the newspaper’s new crime correspondent.

Starring Siobhán Cullen (The Dry), the show was made in association with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán and The Wrap Fund. Production on a second season is under way.
