The WarnerMedia-owned streaming service and the Black Panther star’s production company Outlier Society are developing the project together.

Rather than Clark Kent, it will focus on the DC Comics character of Val-Zod, the Black Superman from Earth 2 and the second to assume the mantle of Superman, according to Collider.

Few other details on the project are known, including whether Jordan, who has previously been linked to the role of Superman and is set to make his directorial debut with Creed III in 2022, will star.

It is separate from the forthcoming Superman movie about Clark Kent being developed by JJ Abrams, his production company Bad Robot and author Ta-Nehisi Coates with Warner Bros.

The limited series would join other current DC Comics television projects such as Superman & Lois, Supergirl, Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash.
